Women's Hiking Trip: Big Bend Sample Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrival + Travel to Terlingua

Book your flight to arrive at Midland International Airport - no later than 1pm.

• Airport Pick Up 11:00AM-1:00PM

• Lunch

• Depart for Terlingua, TX (3 hour 40 minute drive)

• Dinner at Starlight Theatre Restaurant & Saloon (or similar)

• Check-In to Airbnb and relax

DAY 2: The BIG HIKE

This will be the most challenging hiking day of your trip because your legs are the freshest.

• 6:00am departure for trailhead of choice - grab and go breakfast

• Hike South Rim Loop Trail (12.2 miles RT, 2,411ft of elevation gain, 7 hours) or Emory Peak Trail

• Late Lunch at conclusion of hike

• Sunset view of choice: Big Bend Ranch State Park or back into Big Bend for an overlook

• Dinner in Terlingua

• Relax at the house

• Goodnight!

DAY 3: Moderate Hiking

Today will begin your taper of activity, while still challenging your limits. Be prepared for some soreness or stiffness of joints and maybe some blisters to nurse, but you can do it!

• 8:00am departure for Rio Grande River Canoe Trip - Visit a local coffee shop before for breakfast

• Boxed Lunch Included

• Sunset hike or relax at the house

• Dinner in Terlingua

• Goodnight!

DAY 4: Some More Hiking

• 6:00am departure for trailhead of choice - grab and go breakfast

• Possible Trail Selections: Lost Mine Trail or Marufo Vega if we're up for it!

• Lunch in Boquillas, Mexico! Bring your passport!

• Shopping in town

• Visit Boquillas Canyon (short, flat 1.4 mile hike)

• Finish the day splashing in the hot springs! (short, flat 1 mile hike)

• Late Dinner in Terlingua after drive back across the park

• Goodnight

DAY 5: See any spots we missed!

• Early morning departure for trailhead of choice

• Santa Elena Canyon or The Window

• Lunch in Terlingua

• Whichever hike we didn't pick in the morning

• Final Dinner in Terlingua, perhaps visit some local bars

• Return to the Airbnb to pack

• Goodnight!

DAY 6: Departure Day

Our last day together!

• Sleep in until agreed upon time

• Depart for Midland

• Lunch in Alpine en route

• Begin Airport Drop-Offs

• Dinner for those with later flights

• Return home with lots of memories and full heart!
